As the photographs cannot be post up now, I will just tell you with the limited of vocabulary I have got in my brain to tell you about yesterday's event
9th August 1965
Mr Lee Kuan Yew announced over the television to tell all Singaporean that Singapore will leave Malaya and declare itself independent.
21st July 1973
The National Stadium was officially opened by the then Prime minister Lee Kuan Yew. Funded by the Singapore Pools, the whole project cost a whooping $14.5 million and the company helped the National Stadium to repay a government loan of $7.8 million meant as start-up money for a stadium management corporation. The FIRST ever major event that the Stadium held was the VII Southeast Asia Penisular Games in 1973.
33 years down the road
9th August 2006
For countless of years, the National Stadium is often the venue which National Day Parade will be held at. However, on the 9th August 2006, it will be the memorable one as the National Stadium will be demolish to make way for a new sports hub. Thus, National Day Parade 2006 will be the last major event to be held in National Stadium. And I must say that I am really lucky as I can be part of National Day Parade 2006. Through this National Day Parade, I must really voice out my own little opinion. Singaporeans, cant you guys be a little more educated? After all, the theme of this year National Day Paraded 2006 is "My Global City, My Home". Since Singapore is trying to promote herself as a Global City, can we do her a favour and be more educated? Not when people are giving out free gifts and you going up and snatch it or just grab one bunch from their hands. PLEASE, FOR GOODNESS SAKE! There are more then 50,000 of audiences and only about 450 motivators in the National Stadium. What makes you think that we have got enough things to be distributed among each and everyone of you? Please share if you have extra free goodies ok? Not keeping the free goodies for yourself and keep taking. Although the stuffs are really for free, must you be like oh-so-desperate to get all? I dun think so right? Moreover, your bag should also have the free gifts which we have. Then why KEEP taking EXTRAS?! To add a bit on, can you guys say bye bye when the motivators or saying bye to you? It is a form of basic respect! And i quite like what one audience told Cui Xia, "Since they want the free gifts, just give them the whole bag lah." I actually imagined it and think that it would be quite funny if she really give the audience the whole bag. I mean be PATIENT, audiences. There will still be free goodies coming up right? So why so rush to take the items? (=
Anyway, I shall post the photos up later. (= and check out
