FINALLY!!!!
I AM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!! Camp is the only answer I would give if anyone had asked me where did I go. YES! You never
read heard wrongly. For the seven days, I had been away for camp.
4th September - 6th September 2006Aspiration Camp, organised by Community Service and Cultural Club, for kids with Down Syndrome. I took care of a boy, Benjamin, with another girl, Xinni. All I can say is that, this camp is an eye-opener for me. It also make me realise how taxing it is to take care of them. They always have mood-swings here and there, difficult to catch hold of it. One minute they can be active, the other they can sleep there and do not want to take part in whatever activities. This camp also shows that how pampered they are, always relying on us to help them to take care or carry their stuffs. Thus, Xinni and I agreed that we should let them have more responsibility on taking care of their stuffs.I really had fun taking care of them.
7th September - 11th September 2006Singapore Polytechnic Generation Youth Leadership Camp, also known as SP GYL Camp, in Sarawak. The first day we got there by Silkair, the things we do are only checking in, a trip to Sarawak Cultural Village, SCV for short, and Opening address. I am in team A of School of Built Environment. The team leader is Kok Hong, a cannot be more then high and talkative guy. The team members are Richard, Yih Liang, Christopher "Small Boy", Ubai, Yong Ming, Toh Wee, Shi Hui, Xiang Ying, Jonathan and me. My room-mates are Yong Ming and Toh Wee, the two overaged scouts. The name of my team is Murut. Murut is one of the twenty something tribes in Sarawak. The second day is FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!! We went kayaking in a rainy weather. As Yih Liang sprained his ankle on that day, he didn't join us in the kayaking and was resting through out the whole day. I kayak-ed together with Toh Wee and man, the journey is taxing. But the scenery there is nicer. Some might disagree with me, but I had never seen so many mountains together, with clouds drifting here and there. After we reached the destinated point, we had to play human pyrimad and it was again, FUN! We also had to stand in our kayak in the middle of nowhere. After finishing with our kayak-ing, we went for our lunch and the food there are better than the hotel despite having lesser facilities than the Santubong Resort. After lunch, it was raft-building. Sad to say, we communicated mostly in chinese and left other races out. So, my apology to them. Oh yeah! We won the other team, only that they had completed one lap more than us and we only had to complete one lap. We went back to the resort to bathe as we are all dripping wet with the rain and seawater. After bathing we returned to the place, Camp Permai, to had our dinner. Once again, the food there is nicer. I also managed to catch the sunset. =D I had throw my face there, not surprisingly.
I had mistaken a plane for a star... It is not my fault actually, the plane seems to be stationary... Then it is back to the hotel once again. After returning, we had a team debrief. Then, it is sleep again. The third day is trekking in the Bako National Park. Again, nice scenery and saw wild boar for the first time. The whole activities took almost eight hours and we went back to prepare for the Gala night. Oh yeah, the place in inacessible to cars, so we got there by boat through the South China Sea. The last and grand event of the camp is the Gala Night. With performances done by us and the lecturers, funny and entertaining are the only words that I can describe it with. Classic quotes of that night. " What happened in class huh?"asked a guy. "I dunno leh..." replied a guy with a blur look. "It doesn't matter who win or who lose. Who matters is that I win and YOU lose." The last day there is all about shopping. Bought nothing much there also... Had tons of photo-taking sessions in the airport. Last but not least, I need to prepare for another camp, Ionic Chain Evolution Camp. So long
fuck you x=
